ELO problem

Hello,
When I play against a friend against whom I play very, very often (almost every evening), for about 2 weeks I have no longer gained or lost ELO, either. We haven't touched the settings and are not in friendly mode? What to do?

Are you both stuck on 100 ?

Elo rating is supposed to judge you against other players, not a consistent opponent.

Otherwise, let's say your friend is better than you, but you like playing. If you play every day, and that friend continues to gain ranking without fail, they can become the #1 Ark Nova player.

Because they are better than the average opponent? No, because they are better than one friend.

This is why BGA added that check -- if you want to play against a consistent friend, that's what friendly mode is for.

I was under the impression that the system was set up so that if you win against the same person over and over, you get less and less ELO each win, but I was unaware of there being a system that would just stop ELO from happening after X games. me and 2 of my friends play a bunch of games on here exclusively with each other, are we going to reach a point where we stop earning ELO? that would be a bummer

well, Elo gain/loss is supposed to be zero sum.

If you two keep playing eachother, you can't both be gaining Elo. It needs to come from somewhere.

Looking at your games played. It does appear that you you gained and lost Elo on most if not all of your matches. Maybe if you could list some game number where this happened. That said its probably a BGA issue rather than an ark nova issue as I don't think the individual games control ELO math beyond reporting wins and loss to the system.

Hum I do think they announced it completely stop after a while of CONSECUTIVE games with the same player. If you play someone else, it get reset or something

I think that must only apply to 2-player games, because I reckon I've played the same three opponents in 33 consecutive games of Solo Whist and I'm still getting Elo changes.
