New TM mode + enhancements

Hi all,

I have taken up the TM adaptation to add a new mode and while I was at it, I tried to fix bugs and improve the game based on the reported bugs and suggestions. Here is a changelog :
  • New game mode : "create a challenge". This is similar to the turingmachine.info "create a challenge" feature : select the difficulty, the number of verifiers, and a subset of compatible verifiers you want to play (you don't need to select all of them) and the game will open a game setup matching these.
  • In order to avoid issue at table creation, fetching turingmachine.info can no longer be done during table setup which means that you will now have to take one extra click to actually fetch the data in standard and daily challenge mode. Sorry for the trouble but it's more stable that way.
  • The criteria cards were completely revamped to improve readability by removing some blank parts and increasing size of images and font. This new version should also prevent overflowing on the cards
  • The game now offers you couple settings available by clicking the gears in the top right panel : you can now choose the size of verifiers cards that are no longer forced to fit on a single row, you can show/hide the robot images and show/hide icon captions on criteria cards. I hope you will enjoy these as I do!
  • After discussing with publisher and game designers, we changed the flow of a turn : everyone now plays in parallel their full turn, including proposing a solution, and everything is hidden to avoid players waiting for others to do stuff to exploit this. You can also go back at any time during your turn so no more losing because you clicked "Yes" too fast.
If you see bugs, please report them using the bugs/suggestion system of BGA (https://boardgamearena.com/bugs).

Have fun playing TuringMachine on BGA !

Follow up on the new changelog :
  • You can now change the height of the "clues textarea" to make them smaller (or bigger)
  • Daily challenge can only be played in friendly mode
  • "crypt law cards" (the ones with the checkmarks) are no longer displayed to avoid revealing hidden information. Other private informations were also fitlered better to avoid cheaters
  • The game no longer ends when someone makes the correct guess, allowing you to keep playing until everyone is done
  • Nice end of game animation added
  • At the end of the game, all notepads are now revealed and the nighmare and extreme mode information are revealed
  • The "code selection" has been improved a bit by being able to "deselect" a number by clicking on it again, updating the button status depending on the code and adding a confirm button in the top bar to avoid scrolling
  • Issue with code selection when someone else was taking a move at the same time, resulting in testing codes with "_" in them has been addressed and shouldnt be an issue anymore
  • Number of rounds for the machine was different from TuringMachine.info website and should now be aligned

Is it intended that we no longer get the Machine's performance at the end of a solo game? I used to enjoy seeing how well the machine did on a puzzle. (Although at this point I can usually estimate it pretty accurately, it's still a good feature, especially for newer players to learn strategies).

Ah, thanks! Yes, it's working again (somewhat). Like I said, I have a good sense of how well the machine will do, so I noticed the last two games I played had fairly high numbers of questions. For example, today's (December 22) Daily Challenge (table 604994144) shows the machine taking three rounds and nine questions, which seems far too high. Just to double check, I went to the official site, and that shows the machine taking two rounds and six questions, which is much more what I'd expect.

(Similarly, yesterday's challenge shows the machine taking 4 rounds and 11 questions, which also seems unlikely: https://boardgamearena.com/gamereview?table=604584060)

Basically the only relevant information is number of questions. Number of rounds is just number of questions / 3.
There were some discrepancy between turing-machine.info and BGA when you load a specific game ID because the turing-machine.info applied a 1.5 factor because it was deemed too hard. Maybe the daily challenge does not have this 1.5 factor, I need to check with Scorpion Masqué

Thanks for all of the changes. I recently played it again after some time away and I LOVE the new turn based game.
