Stuck game - can't play or quit - losing karma

my friends and I have a stuck game of Starship Merchants. It only ever gets to 10% loaded for any of us, so no one can get into the game (to either play or quit). The player whose turn it is is being warned about loss of Karma, but none of us can do anything about it.

Game # is 596038502.

There is a bug raised for this: #141536, where I have added our issue, but because it is a lesser known/played game there are only two thumbs up so it looks like it has no chance of being noticed anytime soon.

Please can this game be killed?

Would it be worth considering a forum thread just for games that need killing like this?

Thanks for any help,
Cheers,
shad0wlands.

Use the table URL - https://boardgamearena.com/table?table=596038502 and there should be a quit button there. There will be a karma penalty for whoever initiates the quit, but this should be recovered reasonably quickly - you lose 10%, but gain one back for each finished game after this until you reach 100 again. This does come up semi-regularly in the forums, but it's one of those things that you can only do if you know the URL to it (someone usually does post what I've done here). The person who is over on time will get a time penalty, but no karma loss, so it makes not much difference if they quit or someone else does.

Can that same link be used to "Propose to collectively abandon" instead?

I did look at one of my own games, and I could only see a quit button, so I don't think so? But if someone else knows better (as I had forgotten about this workaround when the same problem came up recently, until someone else suggested it), feel free to correct me.

Thanks nik592! Our friend who's turn it was volunteered to take the hit and has quit. It looks like that has just set it to now be my turn (I still can't get in), so we'll all have to quit individually (at least only the first of us should have their rep hit).

Meeplelowda, I like your suggestion that the agree-to-abandon option should be available here (or at least _somewhere_ else outside of needing to load the game!) for issues like this one, but given how that particular mechanism works, I suspect it would be too big an effort to transpose it.

I reckon a dedicated (pinned?) thread that someone with "game killing" privileges could easily scan regularly might be an easier option for now.
