Ties should end with no score!

Just tied and was surprised despite the game being announced by BGA as a tie, I lost points because I was the highest rank.

I don’t understand why this is the case. The higher ranked player “should” have won, so gets penalised for not being good enough?

Interested in your thoughts. For me is going to encourage playing a much more irritating game - ie blocking people.

That's absolutely the case. If I draw against Magnus Carlsen who should beat me 10 times out of 10 unless he's literally in a coma (and even then I don't like my odds), he should lose rating points.

Why wouldn't it be the case? You were expected to win, and didn't. The rating formula hit you for your result accordingly. If you're disrespecting your opponents and not performing blocks you should have in-game, be thankful for getting away with a draw, lol.

Look at it from the other side. You didn't lose as much as you would if you had lost the game.

There's no reason to assume Carlsen is that good at Ticket to Ride.

I laughed out loud, then had to explain to someone why I was laughing.

I was intrigued to see what would happen in a complete tie. I suppose it makes sense that the high ranking player loses because they didn’t win.
