Help me understand a bonus card

In this game: https://boardgamearena.com/1/railwaysof ... =588929801

I had the bonus card

THEODORE D. JUDAH - Gain 8 points if you have
the longest railroad
(the most consecutive links)

I failed this objective. As far as I can tell, I have a 36 link route (Baltimore to Kansas City) and only other person who even laid down 36+ rail tiles is Mabeuf and they have 35 as their longest consecutive links (Minneapolis to New Orleans).

What am I missing, or was this an error in the game, or did I just miscount?

I could be wrong, but a link isnt a tile but a connection between cities. In this case black has 9 links as you have only 8.

Ringbearer is correct. A link is a connection between two cities, no matter how many track tiles it took to complete that connection. And then consecutive links would be akin to having the longest route in Ticket to Ride, the countable links must extend the longest potential route and not be off-shoots or unconnected.
