Fishing for NOPE

You shouldnt be able to determine if your opponent has a NOPE card unless they want to use it.
At the moment you can use a Shuffle or other suitable to determine if they have a NOPE card to ensure you arent playing a 3-of-a-kind attack into a NOPE.

Thats not right in my opinion.

How do you know? Players can change their nope settings to always ask for nope, only when they have nope or never. Since you don't know their preferences you can't know for certain

It’s because in a live game you have time to nope before an action is taken, but since there are turn-based games, it would be unfair for someone to perform an action before you can nope them

Yes but I think the systems flawed.
There are 3 options.
1. Always ask for a NOPE
2. Ask for a NOPE only if you have one
3. NEVER ask for a NOPE

The last option is useless as per your turn-based reasoning. Folk can take cards from you unchallenged even if you have a NOPE.
I think most folk have the "only if" option ticked which allows a player to "Fish" for NOPE cards using any card before playing a Steal combo

I have concluded the first option to always ask for a NOPE is the best way to go but its annoying as it constantly requires interaction.
You shouldnt have to click "dont play NOPE" when you dont actually have a NOPE, but its the only way to conceal whether you have one or not.

In a 2 player game (ARENA at the moment) there is no need for any NOPE use prompts. A simple timer to allow the opponent to NOPE if they want to or can would be better.
Similarly the same can be done for multi-player.
So essentially, remove the "ask for NOPE timer" and just add in a timer. Probably adds in an extra duration to a game though.

I think its important that you can conceal whether you have NOPE cards from your opponent and can wait to use them for whatever NOPE you want.
This would be more in line with the dynamics of playing a physical game.

This obviously only applies to real-time games.
For Turn based there's no option I suppose.

In a live game, players can interact to perform an action (like taking the top three cards and flipping them for see the future) or the action can take a specific time to perform. During the interaction time, whoever has a nope is asked if they want to play it or not.

Even though The “ask for nope if you don’t have one” option conceals nopes, it doesn’t make sense logically. Why would you be asked to play a nope if you don’t have one? There is only one button to click anyways.

Maybe they should give everyone a 5 second or so span of time to play a Nope in live games.
If you click right away to not play a Nope you still have the option to do so while it's waiting on others to decide. Might as well just condense all that into a 5-10 second waiting period for everyone to conceal the fact that people have Nopes left.

Otherwise it's just a feature of BGA that you have to learn to play with to your own advantage and fish for Nopes too.

IMO this is not a good game to play turn based anyways.

I think the settings are fine, I set mine to wait 5 seconds even if I don't have a nope for these purposes and it seems to work fine. To each their own. BGA allows you to play like this, seems the rules do too.
