Unfair rating drops against "new" season players

Hi, I played a * ton of Patchwork Arena in the new season and had a really good streak. Yes it's still early. I think this is an issue with all new arena seasons
However if new good players join in they will get a default low rating. I played a 700+ elo (world ranking elo, not arena elo) 4 times today and tied him 2-2 while he was still climbing up bronze to elite. For my two wins I got +6 and +6. For my two losses -32 and -36. So tying a master over 4 games loses me 50+ points. He's currently 3rd in the arena ranking,
I also played last seasons Arena champion (Lord Dhanter) 5 times this new season. I beat him 3-2. His two wins gave him more points than my 3 wins. Though not as bad, I only lost 6 points. He is in first for now.
It just feels incorrect to have a positive or equal winning record against almost all players, yes that's including the current top 3, and not be leader in the rankings. Something is wrong by punishing early starters in the season as a lot of good players will step in later.
There's a reason elo chess ratings are not reset in the players entire career.
I'm not saying change it immediately, but it feels that this can be done fairer. Keeping the old arena ranking is a bit stupid, that's what the overal all-time ranking is for. But maybe adjust points lost against players that started later in the season as their initial rating is just flat out misleading and therefore give way more plus/minus points than deserved?
Edit: I also lost 2 dumb games to others. One by my mousepad registering a click without me touching it lol. And one poorly played game. That costs some too of course. But without the enormous losses in points for winning/drawing against last seasons best I would still be in first
