Out of time when earning extra turns

First of all, I'm a casual player, I don't care about ELO. And I wouldn't care about some bad loser kicking me out of the game when I run out of time at all, if it didn't hurt my karma.

And, my lord, there are a lot of really bad losers out there. Imagine this scenario: I'm playing real time on fast. I'm constantly the person who finishes their turns fastest, obviously. But then there's the last turn: I hypnotize an opponent, earn an extra sponsor action, and manage to trigger reef abilities as well. Obviously I can't do that in the time given to me by the game without running slightly out of time.

And yes, most players out there, unfortunately, look at their ELO and are like "hehehe I'll get them!" It's too bad there are so many toxic players out there, but that's online gaming for you.

Now there is a fix possible of course: you should get extra time for your turn if you unlock extra actions. Undoing this should deduct that time again of course, so it can't be misused.

I've lost an uncountable amount of games this way over the years. And it just feels so bad.

Aside from that I'm really enjoying this implantation. It's so well made. And it has even taught me quite a few rules that I played wrong in real life, so thats just awesome. I have had a lot of nice interactions over the years here and the ability to learn from other players. It's been my number one favorite activity on long train trips (and any other given moment).

Anyway, thanks in advance for looking into this.

Then simply play friendly mode. Problem solved.

So you painted yourself into a corner. Your actions led to a turn that you can't finish in time. It's only your fault.

Look at it this way: maybe the other player could have done the same, but they realized that they would end up being unable to play within the time constraints, so they decided on something else that would give fewer points but would be safer. And then you went that route and ran out of time. Should the other player just let it be and let you win because you were more reckless?

If there's something wrong or with room for improvement in the implementation or in the BGA framework, you're of course welcome to discuss it (there are other threads about it). But don't blame other players for enforcing the time constraints, even if they "only" do it to get a "free win".

You say you are playing on fast, than it's your fault. The time limit ist 3min an that is meant to be the max to take on !any! Turn if if you cannot do it don't play on this setting. And even four actions a turn is easily possible in the 3min

If you are referring to your last game your never finished your turn faster you took 33min(13:11 33:30) that's three times the amount. Wrong speed setting for you

I agree, earning an extra turn/action should grant 30 seconds.

Current workaround : just change animation speed.

Does it really solve the problem? Once you leave competitive mode I assume you drastically reduce the player pool and likely have a lower quality of opposition.

I do agree in principle that there's nothing wrong with expelling players for going over time, however this feels like an exception.

It's known that sometimes there are much longer-than-average turns due to being able to take multiple actions in a a single turn. If what OP is implying is true, that it's not physically possible to play their move in the allotted time (I acknowledge they mighbt be exaggerating but let's give them the benefit of the doubt), then this isn't the answer. The framework is to blame.

Players shouldn't be expected to intentionally play suboptimal moves because there's not enough time to execute all the clicks. Even in the fastest setting.
