Upper limit on Gaia's score for growth points?

In a game today, Gaia scored 107 points for growths. Filling the entire board scores 100. Apparently, Gaia then gained 5 more growths for 7 more points. I don't see anything in the rules preventing this, but I also didn't see anything saying this CAN happen once Gaia runs out of room for growths. For human players, running out of growth spaces is a problem to be managed.
