Career card fulfillment during combat?

I have a question about an edge case.
The rules say that you can perform free actions at any time, including during your main actions. One free action is fulfilling an objective on the career card.

The game implementation on this website (as far as I can tell) does not let you complete a career card task while you are engaging in combat. There are rare situations where this could matter, IF you’re actually supposed to be allowed to do it.

Suppose that I have fulfilled the lower version of a career objective, and I’m hoping to wait to fulfill the full version, but during combat realize I could do something really valuable if I had one extra combat point. Then I might want to fulfill the lower version of the objective to get a figure to immediately destroy for +1 combat. I don’t think I can do this. Is that how it’s supposed to work? Was the implementation here intentional?

There's a request to enable career card completion during combat:
https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=114039

It's been open for 7 months and, in that time, has received two votes in addition to the original submission. With such little interest, it's unlikely to be implemented, but you're certainly welcome to vote for it as well.

I see. So at least 3 other human beings also wondered about this. :)

Thanks, and thanks for coding this excellent game!

Now I'm finding myself special, since I encountered this issue on my very first play!
So nice to play Maracaibo here. Thanks to the coders!
