Suggestion: Award partial credit in ranked 3 and 4 player?

Consider awarding 1/5 a point in 3p (1/4pt in 4p) per correct number guessed.
Reasoning: Some games you have deduced most of the code but only have a 50/50 shot at the last unknown number. In some of those you are also sure a later player (likely who has the number you have to coinflip) can guess 100% correctly. Giving partial credit could distinguish 2nd and 3rd (or 4th) in competitive matches.
What I want to know: Where would this be bad? Show me my blind spots.
Alternatively, would a 1/10th a point in 3p (1/8pt 4p) be better? Then, 2 partials from different rounds would still score lower than 1 fully-correct guess?
