Make kicking players a group decision

Recently, I've been seeing players who are less than an hour, half an hour, heck, even less than 5 minutes late to make a move, be skipped by players. It's frustrating when I go through my games, only to see someone who was 10 minutes late making a move have their turn skipped when we have no idea what * is going on in their life! On a couple of occasions, for example, my internet was unavailable to me and I was unable to make moves.
Please, just like abandoning a game requires everyone to agree to it, please make it so that players who have a negative clock cannot be kicked without everyone else agreeing! I get this could cause its own problems, so maybe make it time-limited? Say a group decision is no longer required if the player is 6 hours late, as an example? I'm just sick of seeing people kicked when they're literally a minute late! Especially when I, personally, have gotten away with being 7 hours or more late without giving an explanation!
*Moderator edit: please refrain from swearing on BGA, this is a family-friendly platform.

For tournament games, I fully agree. Please upvote this proposal:
https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=107708 But if you're talking about regular, non-tournament games, there are decent arguments on both sides of the issue.

Yeah, I was talking about regular.

If I join a game with X hours per move, I don't need to accept some other player taking X+1 hours instead (or even X hours and 1 minute). Even if the other players don't care, I joined that game for a reason.
If ever expelling becomes a group decision, I hope I'd also be able to abandon (without penalty) a game where a player ran out of time.

That wouldn't solve anything imo. The whole point of my issue is game after game gets ruined because someone is over by just a bit when they could have literally just been about to log on and make their move! If you were then able to abandon without penalty, the game would still be ruined because someone got impatient after someone else ran over by one minute!
The entire point is I get fed up of having to quit games for the sake of an hour because other people don't want to try to give the benefit of the doubt! When a player's turn gets skipped, the person skipping the turn ruins the game for people like me!
If you care that much about people taking their turns on time, play in real time and not turn based!

The person who ruined the game is the person who failed to make good on the time commitment they agreed to

Those running out of time ruin the game for people (like me, sometimes).
Where do you draw the line? Taking 1 more hour is fine, taking 2 more hours is wrong? 10 hours? 1 day? 2 days? At which point it becomes OK to expel? If I plan to play a game that finish during the weekend, but someone makes it last longer and I cannot play during the week... I will be out of time. Is it OK to expel me once I'm 5 days over time? Why can't I expel the slow player before that happens?
There's a very clear boundary: As soon as a player goes into the red, they can be expelled, that's the point where it becomes "too much". If you want you can think that between +1 hour left and +0:00 I'm already being patient (after all, there's already a time per turn
and a time bank, and they've already used most of their time bank). At +0.00 my patience runs out.
If you care that much about people taking their turns on time, play in real time and not turn based!
I do play real-time almost exclusively (and you see the same arguments with real-time too). But when I play turn-based, I expect the time limits to be respected.
If you don't care about time, play at the slowest setting, or in friendly mode.

Life happens! If you had a child who was sick for several days in a row, would you really still think to yourself while your child is sick 'dang, I'd better keep to the commitments I made on a website where I play games'? Or would you be focusing all your time and attention on caring for your sick kid, potentially leading to your time going over?

Lol, no. I would rightfully be kicked out of the game and not whine about it.

I don't know why you two think it's ok that something happens that can't be controlled and suddenly that gives you liberty to punish them. I wouldn't make this argument for real time, but for turn based, if you manage to kick someone out after being an hour late, that suggests to me the person who skipped the turn has nothing better to do than sit at BGA all day sitting at one game! I am extremely grateful for others patience when they choose to be decent and wait for me! And when I post in the game chat that I might run out of time due to XYZ reason and I eventually find my turn ended up skipped? I wonder if the person even bothered to read what I put in chat! At most a decent player at that point would choose to abandon!
