Board Game Arena

I was playing Puerto Rico. The doorbell rang and I had to leave the game momentarily.

Although I know Puerto Rico requires an almost undivided attention of 30 mins to play, I typed BRB to give the opponents a heads-up because ... what else could I do?

When I returned it said: "Puerto Rico n°6622947: mtl quits the game" but:

a) I never quit
b) my count was still 4 minutes so they couldn't have kicked me off either ..

What happened?

What do you recommend I do next time?

And I'm assuming I'm going to get a negative reputation now ...? *sob*

Once a player quit game or is expelled, there is no way for him/her to come back. As for why you "quit", I am almost 100% positive that you were expelled by one of your opponents. Only other reason for this to happen to you would be a bug, but in the year I've been on BGA I haven't seen a bug that would expel an individual player.

What to do next time - if you know you're not going to have enough time to play, you should play a game with "Normal" or "Slow" speed chosen, OR inform your opponents beforehand and rely on them not expelling you.

And your reputation is fine, it's normal to have a few red clocks or exits.

other players can expel you not when you run out of time. They can expel you after (as i think) 2 minutes of being inactive!

i have 2 negative reputation points now ...

i dont know who put them there ...
