Have you considered that just by going to sleep for one night (8 hours) your players may lose 1/3 of the entire time they have for a round?

High, your settings are bit too fast so you might have a bunch of timeouts. If you have more than 5% of games time out after the first few rounds then the settings are too fast.

I looked up the game and each player will need make 12 “turns” to complete a game. All actions seem to be simultaneous? The clock will count down for more than 1 player at a time until they complete their move right?

For 12 turns and 3 players I would generally recommend 7 days, which is 56 hours time for each player. A short game like this will likely proceed a lot faster than 7 days per round after the first few rounds so it shouldn’t take that long to complete.

Not surprisingly, 13 out of the 29 first round matches (there was one bye match) ended with the game being abandoned due to timing out. And well over 1/2 of the games had at least one player who ran out of time.

Just saw that, thanks for sharing. Let this tournament be a good lesson in game duration recommendations. Regardless of what time you set your tournament, players will sign up regardless and assume it’s enough time. Might as well always choose a reasonable time that >95% of the tables can finish so everyone has a good time.

I thought about it again and a regular 3 player with 12 turns each would be 36 turns total. 3 days is only 72 hours so that would require players making a move every 2 hours on average, including sleeping time, work time. I don’t think that’s realistic. If I could get every turn passed back to me every 4-6 hours in a 3p game I would be thrilled, but it’s never like that.
