Card Count vs. number next to green check mark?

This may be obvious to everyone but I can't seem to understand it and can't find an answer about it since I think it relates to the BGA implementation/GUI itself. When I'm playing Exploding kittens there are two symbols by each players cards in hand with a number next to it. One of them is clearly the card count in each players hand. However, there is a green check mark icon with numbers next to it either. Can someone tell me what that number means in game? I tried to attach a screenshot of what I mean but I'm not sure if it worked.

Checkmark indicates a player is still in the game. Changes into an X when eliminated. The number indicates the player order: 1st, 2nd, 3rd....

There is also another number next to the checkmark that is bolder and sometimes equal to the amount of cards a player has or its less, does someone know what that means?
