Board Game Arena

I enjoy playing Altered in Turn Based because I am quite new to the game and with Turn Based mode I have enough time to read through all the stuff and familiarize myself with the game.

HOWEVER, when playing Turn-Based in 50% of the time I get the same opponent. A Top 20 player, that owns me each and every time. This is no fun. I am stuck in gold because even if I win a bit against other opponents, half my games are against an unwinnable deck ;(

Is this intended? A 100 ELO person in gold playing against Top 20 elite with 550 ELO?!

This is very frustrating.

Yes, it is intended that elo should not affect Arena. That's the purpose of Arena, to have a competition where everyone starts (almost from) scratch every season. But you don't need to play Arena, you can play simple games or tournaments.

You can filter by level so you're not matched with players too far above or below your level. In simple games that means filter by elo. But in Arena, again, no relation with elo, you can only filter by league (gold, elite...). If you don't know how to do it, it shouldn't be difficult to find some instructions in the forum/wiki/faq.
