Next move Carcassonne, fields

Hi everyone.
I'm new and lost anyway when I have to search for topics, that's why I'm asking here. Sorry if this topic has already been discussed and thanks for linking to the original discussion. Why can't I choose where to place my next card in the game Carcassonne? Why are so few spaces marked where I can place my next card? I'm not used to this at all from playing analog with friends and find it annoying.

You might be playing the game with a wrong rule interpretation with your friends.

All the positions that a new tile can be placed according to the rules will be marked by the BGA implementation.
Please note that a newly placed tile must always connect to the already played tiles along (at least) one edge. Furthermore along all shared edges the tile properties must align (field must border to a field, city to a city, road to a road).

If you have an example where you think the BGA implementation is not correct you can describe it here. Please supply the game number and move number such that other players can check the board position...

Edit: I forgot to mention that you can rotate your tile by clicking onto the tile. But placing the tile on the marked spots and rotating the tile gives you all allowed placements.
