User names beginning with lower case letters

I'm curious why so many users have not capitalized the first letter of their user names.
Now don't take this the wrong, way, I suspect that I might get some replies thinking that I might be complaining about grammar. That is not the case. If you want your user name in lower case, that's up to you. I'm curious why.

I've had this username a long time and back when I first started using it, pretty much everyone lower cased. For one thing it was your email and emails were usually all lower case too (I don't think they had to be, but it was the done thing, at least in my world). It's just what I'm used to.

Oh thanks for that explanation. That makes a lot of sense.

Partially similar as above I guess, partially simplicity (German is crazy on capitalising, not just on names, but also all nouns, and its far-spread slang to lowercase everything), and partially my personal feeling that my name lower-cased feels less … (dominant/pushy/arrogant?), what I‘m more comfy with, but most of all probably just habit since forever, without remembering in detail whether and which detailed reasoning went into it back then.

Cultural difference. Capitalized user names are very rare (if they are English after all) in my country.
