I just played a 3 player turn-based (Viticulture) where the 3 players were 48/99/153 ELO at start. The first place player got +55 ELO, the 2nd 0 ELO and the 3rd place got -52. In games like Ticket to Ride the typical amount of change would be something like +5/1/-5, if not lower. Why is there so much higher of an ELO swing?

That's not a Vitulture question. If you haven't played enough games you haave your elo change multiplied. Because your elo change was roughly 0 (2nd in 3p game with about same strength opponents) it didn't change much. because their changes were considerable (first and last place) after multiplication it amounted to 50+.

Do you have link to where they explain this ELO multiplication? It definitely doesn't make much sense and doesn't follow what I've seen in other games.

K, the 'elasticity factor,' has a value that depends on the number of games you have played: 60 for your first 10 games, 40 between your 11th and 20th games, 20 for your 21st onwards.
