I see in the instructions that the last person to see a frog goes first but how does that work on BGA? Is it random?

Almost every game nowadays has a quirky rule to determine first player
(Azul - last person to visit Portugal, Galactic Cruse - last person to go on a cruise, ect...)
Most gaming groups dont follow this, since it would probably always be the same person going first. As far as BGA, of course its random, did the website ask you when you saw fog?

It would be too complicated to know which player saw a giraffe with three legs running in a forest... so the first player is always random.

It would actually be very easy to determine 1st player based on the first card flipped by each player. I find its always nice when there is an objective way to determine 1st player than random.

Can you please explain, why you think, that flipping the first card is not random?
And how would you determine the first player based on the first flipped card? As far as I know, the cards do not hot have a natural sort order.
