For tournaments, when are second, third, etc. round games?

Do they happen right after the previous rounds are done, so you need to be online not just for the first round but stay online for later rounds until you are eliminated? (In case it varies by game or tournament, I'm specifically wondering about the Haggis tournament starting at 11pm EST tonight.)

This is correct, once you finish your round, the table for next round is automatically created and your opponent is invited once he/she finishes as well. However, the game starts only once both of you click "Accept", so it won't start without you. You should stay online, though you can take pause and don't need to Accept right away.
