It would be great if we could choose our colours before the games, or perhaps have a standard list of colour preferences in our profile and have them be used to automatically select colours at the start of a game.

I think it will be difficult to allow a similar choice to keep balanced the games.
In some games (i.e. Quoridor, Battle Sheep, Neutreeko) the rules of the game let you start first or last depending by the color you have, and now it is given randomly at the beginning of the game.
In some others (i.e. Puerto Rico, Stone Age) the games are coded on the site to let start first the player who randomly get a certain colour.
Some others games (i.e. Libertalia) have differents cards/situations if you have a colour instead of another.
So probably all the players will try to select the color that gives you the little advantage of starting first.

In addiction to this, there are a lot of colors in all the games here on the site, but a single color can be available only in a few games, so also chosing it as your favourite won't result in using it in the games you'll play.

Then, for the truly desperate, hack your video display to switch the colors for you...
