sorry, if im just misunderstanding the rules here....as i read them you are allowed to put two dice on one action-field in the castle etc. (not on your personal tableau). when trying to do so, im not allowed/cant put one on another.

In solo and two player games it’s a single die per castle spot. For three and four player games you can stack up to two dice per spot.

Edit - added solo too.

You can stack 2 dices on castle only playing 3 or 4 players.
You can't stack a dice if you can't pay for it. If you take a minimum dice, lantern will trigger after putting the dice (so you can't use money made by your lantern to pay for a dice).
You can't put a dice on castle if the dice doesn't trigger anything (orange dice on a spot where there are only white and black dices triggering action).
