I find that the foresight caligraphy (2pts for each coin left at the end of the game) is, without a doubt, the strongest caligraphy to buy, but it is also very overpowered in my opinion. It should have been 1pt per coin left. Players who cash in on early money who get this caligraphy can score 20+ points at the end, which is quite a lot. The only counter I can think of is the souvenir+legendary objects strategy. All other strategies will fail against a money hoarder / foresight strategy in my opinion.

It's shame a bit, I love this game, Crossroads was a well needed expansion with its many options and decisions to make, but I feel this will turn into a Tzolk'in race for Uxmal + building strategy .. meaning skilled players will always try to go for that strategy first.

Let me know if you feel that this caligraphy can be countered other than massive shopping strategy.

First thing that comes to mind is totaly ignoring the other player the Farm space.

I have seen a player utilize this calligraphy with a 24 point boost at the end of the game and still come in second. Spending your coins in the game is more likely to get you more points per coin if you strategize properly. 2 points for one coin is not a very good return considering there are many options to do better, e.g. one coin for a 6 point meal, three coins for a legendary sword worth 8 points (2.66 points per coin spent), or even a simple bath house visit which gets you 4 points for one coin.

I think the Foresight calligraphy looks overpowered on its face, but in reality it isn't. It can be powerful if utilized right, but isn't enough to break the game. There are a lot of aspects of this game that seem overpowered or underpowered but a skilled player can manipulate them to their advantage.

Foresight can generate many points, and it can catch you off guard. I don't think it's too strong though

First note that money is tight in the game, so storing up money will generally be hard since all players will want to stop at the farm. This holds even more true if your opponents see you have the foresight caligraphy. it's typically easy to exchange 1 coin for 1 point through the temple, souvenir, and bath house spaces. In fact, if you average 2-4 souvenirs costing 1-2 coins each, you'll get points per coin spent.

Also note that while most achievements are inclusive (souvenirs counts for points AND for nostalgia, panoramas count for points AND for contemplation), foresight is exclusive -- you have to use the money for spaces/points oOR for foresight. It's more like the fasting caligraphy in this way, that you have to give up something to get it.

I don't think the Foresight Calligraphy is overpowering. I've never seen someone who used it win (many do come in second place, though, but the goal is to win the game, not get second...).

If anything, I think the Nostalgia Calligraphy is the overpowering one, especially if you have a character with a souvenir advantage like Zen-emon or Sasayakko.
