Board Game Arena is excited to announce the launch of The Lord of the Rings™: Fate of the Fellowship, a rich cooperative strategy game designed by Matt Leacock (Pandemic), now available to play online for a limited time.
 
Set in the legendary world of Middle-earth, this latest addition to BGA challenges 1-5 players to work together to help Frodo reach Mount Doom and destroy the One Ring- all while holding back the advancing forces of shadow and fulfilling shifting objectives that change each game.
 
Built on the acclaimed Pandemic System, Fate of the Fellowship brings Leacock’s most mechanically complex design yet to the digital table. Players will navigate a constantly evolving game state, using teamwork and strategy to overcome the looming threat of the Nazgûl and encroaching darkness.
 
About the BGA Version:
This special Board Game Arena edition is available for a limited time and features:

• 10 playable characters (the full physical game includes 13).
• 4 objective cards, specifically selected for new players (out of 24 in the physical edition).

 
Character Control:

• Each player controls 2 characters.
• In solo mode, a single player controls 5 characters.

 
Adjustable Difficulty:
Choose from Introductory or Standard levels, which change the number of “Skies Darken” cards in the player deck.
The full physical edition includes additional Heroic, Epic, and Legendary difficulties with increased challenge and complexity.

How limited a time are we talking, here?

I'm a huge fan of Pandemic. But knowing this will be here only for a limited time kills all motivation for me to try it out.

Yeah, is that a typo and you meant to say *non-premium* for a limited time? Because if you're going to be taking the game off BGA I don't see the point in learning it.

The point probably is that you could try it and after the limited time here is over, you'd buy it if you enjoyed playing it so much.

So it’s a demo for the game that’s missing three characters and a bunch of cards, and one that only lasts a limited time before getting deleted? Sorry, but to me that sounds like a total waste of time for all involved and kills any interest I had in trying/learning this game. I’ve bought some games based on experiences with them on BGA, but even those I still mainly play on here.

What happens if you are halfway through a game when the limited time runs up?

I don't play on BGA much because I realize I mostly like coop games. The coop games on here aren't really my taste. This is a game I would REALLY be interesting in playing though until I read....

It is sad to hear the game is missing a lot of content and is temporary. I am sure someone is scared having the game on BGA permanently will lose sales but as someone who love to play games digitally it is sad.

I might be a minority, but if we received more good coop games I would definitely resub to BGA. Dead Cell is the other game I am really looking forward when there is more content.
