Hi, I want a bigger font because I have poor vision.

I looked at my settings and all that seems to do is offer me different colours of playing piece.

Can anyone direct me to a button that makes the text of games larger please?

There is no general button for bigger fonts, because such a feature would be game depended (e. g. Ark Nova). In fact, I know only very few games here on BGA using different fonts for better readability (normally when the original font type is rather fancy). Some card games using standard cards do offer a larger version of the cards. Maybe the tooltips help, which you can find in most games, when you hover over a card etc.

Then in some games you may zoom the playing area or parts of it, either directly in the playing area (usually identified by a magnifying glass icon), via the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) in the top right corner or by clicking the gear icon in the player panel. If this is not large enough for you, you may also try your browser zoom.

If you just want increased font and image sizes in general, since BGA all happens in a browser, you can just adjust your browser settings (under accessibility). That is, if I'm understanding what you're looking for correctly.

Sure thing!

For me (in Chrome), it's under
Settings > Accessibility > Default Zoom
if that helps at all.
