Why do most people on here look for a game without addons?

That's boring, it's way more balanced with the two add-ons. Why would you look for a game without them, it makes no sense.

I agree with you, the expansions are a must for intresting games.

Framing your "question" this way probably won't give you a satisfying answer. Why should anyone who is just told that they are ignorant and wrong explain themselves...

Agreed.
I play the base game only at the moment, because I'm still discovering the game. In my opinion one of the most common mistakes in board gaming is to add expansions right from the bat. Most of the time it's better to start with the base game only to discover a game at it's best.

Playing a game for the first time is not the time to add a bunch of fiddly rule things. Teach me the basics and let me play the basic rules before throwing a bunch of add-ons at me.

Honestly, I just click for new games too fast sometimes without checking the settings. Then I can’t cancel the search, so I just go with it and I appreciate the people who will still join even though I hastily forgot to click through.

I thought the publisher recommended against adding both expansions to the same game? This is the current arena setting and it is pretty clear that the alpine cards are much tougher to get out with their bonuses because of the way the woodland cards dilute the proportions of the pink and purple icons.
Honestly with both expansions it just feels an absolute luck fest. Trying to build synergy is much harder because each expansion pulls the base deck in different directions, and there's just no guarantee that the cards are even in the game with the amount that are removed from the deck at the start.

I'm trying so hard to understand the base game. I can't seem to get over 70 points. Adding expansions will slow me down even further and no one will want to play! Someday I hope to be able to add them in!

first of all it depends on the number of players. The more players the less the score. 70 is an average number for a 4 players game. A two players game is normally around 250 up to something like 400. It can of course go higher.
also maybe are you throwing random cards on the table. you may benefit trying to identify synergies and focus on them. for exemple it's usually a bad choice to mix birds and butterflies. Deleting cards that could be strong if you had the right cards in hand or on your forest but don't, may be a good idea if it's allow you to burn the deck and find the right combo.

How would you know that? I have access to some statistics for Forest Shuffle and they say, that Expansion Alpine was played in 78 % of the games and Expansion Woodland Edge in 68 % in the last month (though they don't say how many games had both).
