Lose progress if someone adds a roof to your building?

Maybe I am missing something in the rule book, but do your vehicles lose progress (move back) if someone places a roof in a building you where scoring in?
Its not your vehicles moving backwards, its that orange cone/pylon at the bottom. The game keeps track of your endgame points for visible roofs in real time, and moves the marker back if you lose them.
(this assumes there isnt a variant I'm unaware of)
