How do you complete a grid in the first round?

It's so challenging to fill the grid in a way that gets you the bonus of finishing it, I haven't managed to master it.

A grid is 9 slots, and you have 9 turns to finish it, so in theory you only have to fill in 1 slot in the grid each turn. Of course, at some point you're likely to miss, either because you don't have it or don't want to waste the bolts on it. So you would benefit either from having two boxes that out off of each other absurdly well with their bonuses, or more easily a box whose row/column bonuses can fill themselves, giving you a bit of leeway. Still, it's not essential to nail the first-round bonus.

Yes I understand that there are 9 cards and 9 spots and there is luck, I'm interested in learning strategy. I want to know what particular bonuses you need to have to be able to complete one in the first round. I realise it's not integral to winning I just want to crack the code in the game and figure out how to achieve it just for fun.

I did it once. I think it was a combination of getting rewards that allowed any space to be filled and using my bolts

tl;dr Use bingo bonuses to create more than 9 plays in the first round.

While you could rely on getting all nine lucky draws, keep in mind that a card will only ever have two of the sets of numbers (low:1,2,3, ; middle:4,5,6 ; high:7,8,9) so those draws will have to pretty skewed to not use quite a few bolts.

Instead, consider the rewards you're getting per turn. 9 draws = 9 plays, but using row/column bonuses, you could get many more than nine plays in a turn.

The most common way I see people get a board on the first turn is the boards that have one [?] reward since that can help mitigate the randomness of draws quite a bit.

Believe it or not, with near perfect draws and the appropriate board types, you can actually get TWO boards in the first round. But I wouldn't recommend that. Looks flashy and gives you an early lead, but bites you in the butt in later.

Two boards in the first round? Never thought that was possible. Is this actually happens to you? Do you have the replay?
