Board Game Arena

I'm trying to develop sympathy for this game but the lack of explanations (aside from the interface) is making it very hard. Very often options are greyed out but you can never find out why. So now I played a snake, 'Brilslang' in dutch, I guess Indian Cobra in english. My oponent has more tickets than I, but I'm not allowed the option of hypnosis and I cannot guess why. This also happens a lot with building bonusses. Het animals are playable, you can tell from the card by hovering over it, but the option is always greyed out. Can someone explain?
