Can no longer start a game even when table isn't full

I used to be able to start a game even if the number of players isn't at the capacity at which I originally set. For example, I would make a table for 4 players, but then decide to start when there are only 3. But I can no longer do that. Is that something new? Or maybe it's only that way in alpha games? Does anyone know?

Is it turn-based or real-time? You're not supposed to be able to do that in turn-based, because there is no accept screen where other players could decide whether or not they agree with that change in the "contract".

I've certainly been able to do this in the past. I'd create a table limited to friends and invite, say 5 of them and less would turn up.

From memory you can click "search for players" and then immediately get the option to start the game with less than the full player count.
