Turn-Based Arena Speeds

Hi there,

This season, most of the turn-based Arena games of Orleans I played were 1 move per day, but one magically brisk game was 3 moves per day.

I'm aware that there's an option for my speed preferences (where I can say how excited I am about the different speed options). So I guess I could set those to "never want to play" slower than 3-4 moves per day.

But if that works, then that would mean that Arena games are somehow being created with varying speeds and I don't know how that works. (In other words, I don't see the option to create an Arena game at whatever speed, like I do with non-Arena games). Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks!

Yes, exactly.

An Arena game is not "created" by any player; rather, whenever there are enough players seeking a game, the matchmaker checks all the players' options for compatibility. I assume that most players never modify their options from the default, so for them, all possible options would be "I'm okay to play with". But let's say for example, you set your options as indicated above, that you never want to play slower than 3-4 moves per day. Well, if there's another player who has set their options to say they only will play slower than 3-4 moves per day, you won't be matched against that player. But if there's a player seeking an arena game whose options are compatible with yours (for example, if they never modified their options from the default) then you could be placed in a game against that player, at the speed of 3-4 moves per day.

That's my understanding of how the system works (or at least, how it's supposed to work). If I'm wrong, somebody please correct me.
