Time Machine

As some of you knows, the BGA team is now working hard on some mysterious "Time Machine" project.

A lot of you wonder what is hidden behind this strange name...

Today, we'd like to share with you a little piece of information with you: the "Time Machine" project is composed of 2 things:
  • A new additional mode to enjoy board game online, that will coexist with the current one. This new mode won't affect the "current BGA", so don't be afraid: this is a new possibility to extend the audience of BGA to a new category of audience.
  • A new game. This game is of course particularly adapted to this new mode, and it is also one of the game you expected the most.
We know that some of you consider that BGA shouldn't evolve anymore because it's fine as it is now, but our approach is totally different. We always tried to explore new things in the past, and we will continue in the future. In any case, we are listening to you and try to rectify new things when they are not 100% satisfying - like we did with the new "lobby". As long as your criticisms are constructive, you are really really helpful to make this website even better (thank you!).

See you soon for more details...

I'm very curious how many people will use asynchronouse and how many will use real time game system.

PS Agricola? I hope so, other version i found in internet didn't look quite well

I would like to see more in depth stats about how your games have gone against other players. Even if it was as simple as win loss ratio. I don't think you do this now.

Also more regular tournaments. I keep wanting to play them but they never seem to fit into my schedule.

The new game only can be in the new mode, or we can play this game like all...?

I hope introducing async play won't mean that new games end up being async only. I can't stand the format - having multiple games on the go and waiting for people to take their turns. Real time play is so much better!

... the new game will be available in all modes, like any games in BGA.

I think the site need a new "join to the table" restrict: A number of games. For example: I have ~150 games in rftg and don't want to play with someone more than 1000 games because it always a loss for me. Now I need to expel the players what is not so polite :)

Like others, I was initially quite critical about proposed changes to the site but if it broadens the community then I guess it can't be such a bad thing. As long as there are only additions and nothing we have is taken away, then I'm sure this site will only get better and better.

BTW, is there any idea when "Time Machine" will be launched? More importantly, when the new game will be available?

Will the asynch be separated from the live games in the lobby so I don't have to search endlessly for live games?
