Lost premium after free month offer?

I got an offer for 1 month of free BGA Premium (I suppose that can happen?) and decided to try it out. I signed up, input my card details and all, and it went through fine. Then, as I usually do for monthly subscriptions, I decided to cancel it so I didn't automatically get billed next month. Then my Premium disappeared.
You can even see that ~1 hour ago I got Premium on my profile, but I'm not actively Premium right now. It seems the 1 month free only works while you are still actively signed up so I ruined it? Usually for subscriptions like this, they stay active for the full month even if you cancel it, but I suppose it's different if it's the free offer.
Welp. Anyway, if anyone else gets that offer, don't cancel it (too) early!
