There are a number of games that have a very obvious first or second player advantage.

This has led to some players only offering rematch if that would get them the favored player position.

I think this behavior is undesirable - the incentive for this could be removed if the player order was random no matter what.

In the situation you describe, if a player is in the position where a rematch would get them the stronger position, that must mean they played the first game from the weaker position. Then it's only fair to give them the stronger position next time.
