Board Game Arena

Wondering what most people prefer in arena once the win/lose outcome is clear in these situations...

Concede or no when:

1. Halfway through the game, if there's a big disparity in resource production.

2. A few generations left with similar production but one player is very far ahead.

3. Last turns of a close game when the math shows no path to victory, based on your hand.

Personally, in 1 or 2 I could go either way, and don't mind what the other player chooses if they're behind. Sometimes when losing, I have other activities calling, sometimes I have a cool combo that I want to play regardless of win/lose. If their ELO is 400+ vs under 200 that can also factor in. If asked to concede, I'll do so, though I'd feel rude asking it of the other player with the roles reversed.

But in 3? That irritates me irrationally for someone to concede if we're both playing at a good pace. I like to see the score at the end! I play things out in this case in the assumption that the winning player has the same preference. Would be good to know if most folks feel differently!

There is no option to concede in a 3-player game. [Oops, my fault. You were referring to scenario 3, not a 3-player game]

I also do not understand why people concede in that scenario. To me it seems like poor sportsmanship.

Mid-game, I don't really think it's *production* per se but just what your strategy is, if you think you have a path to victory. If you're getting absolutely thrashed I think it's fair to concede.

If it's too early you really never know though... I had a memorable game against a 500+ player who got out early earth catapult and research outpost, honestly wanted to concede at that point. They later played media group, optimal aerobaking, alloys, jov mults... yet I won (praise be to protected habitats, viral enhancers, inventrix with adapt tech & 14 point birds)

I find #3 really annoying yet it's the most common one Don't they also want to see their stats?? Like what's the point of conceding during final plant prod, for example?

IMO, the polite thing is to ask.

"Do you mind if I concede or do you want to play it out?"

I would personally agree on 3 though. Once you're in the final gen, you should just play it out regardless.
