Board Game Arena

I got together with a friend who also plays with me here on BGA to have a first go at the physical version of the game today. After losing a few balls and comboing out of the bunker a few times, we finished 18 holes and I scored the game the normal way for golf, not using the scoresheet but laying out our respective front and back nines to score up (don't worry, I had red and blue Poker chips to keep track of combos and lost balls as well). By calculating Par as 0, and the other scores appropriately, it meant that we had a more appropriate scoring for a golf game, with a final score (including combos and lost balls) of eight under par versus one under par.

Great fun to finally have the physical game, and I would be curious if this kind of scoring can be implemented here on BGA. Start at 0, and have birdies (-1) and eagles (-2) remove points while bogey (+1), double bogey (+2), and bunkers (+3) add strokes as appropriate. The +1 and -2 effects of combos and lost balls can still be kept as-is (I was actually still under par even before that, which was due to a good draw for my game), but it might be more authentic and more fun to actually start at 0 and score the game as in normal golf. Is there a technical reason why this cannot be done or has not been done to date? It would be much more authentic to score this way even though the cards are programmed otherwise.

Either way, looking forward to the official BGA launch this month. I suspect we will be online playing it that day.

BGA is sometimes limited in what can be programmed.
But the idea set out here is still registered for perhaps future variants of the game?
