Equipment gain cattle not working.

I got the equipment that states +1 cattle with cattle dice. Didn't work...only got one every time.
The way these equipment work is when you take the corresponding die, you get that bonus in addition to whatever else you choose to do.
So what should happen, is you get a free cow, then you can choose to get another, take 4 silver, recruit a person, or even pay to change to something else.
