Questions about "Long game" and "Match play" options

(Not considering Oklahoma Gin for convenience.)

* Long game OFF (default): A round ends when a player reaches 100 points.
* Long game ON: A round ends when a player reaches 250 points.
* Match play OFF (default): The match ends when a player reaches 100 points.
* Match play ON: The match ends when a player reaches 500 points after a game.

So, there are 4 combinations:
(a) Round ends 100, match ends 100. (default)
(b) Round ends 100, match ends 500.
(c) Round ends 250, match ends 100.
(d) Round ends 250, match ends 500.

My questions are:
1. For (b) and (d), what is the meaning of the existing of a "round"? Why bother splitting a match(a game?) into several rounds?
2. For (c), how does it work?
3. What are the differences among a hand, a round, a match and a game?

3. A hand is the smallest complete unit, spanning from a deal to one player going out. I believe round = game in this context. It consists of several hands, until one player accumulates enough points (100 or 250). Games can be further stacked into a multi-game match.

1. A major difference is that a player is awarded bonus points (+100) for winning a game. As for why to do this, it creates a richer gameplay - it is not the same as winning independent hands, one has to take into account how close are both him and his opponent to winning a game.

2. The wording ("The match ends when a player reaches 100 points after a round.") leads me to believe it creates a match consisting of a single 250 point game.
