Why does closing one table closes the other tables I have open for that game?

I had two turn-based tables open for a game, one needed one more player to start and the other had no players (besides me), I decided that I would close the one that had just me but it also closed the other table that had players already joined. Why does this happen? And my suggestion would be to fix it so it doesn't happen again for all players.
