What happens if while bidding I put 5 VP on faction A and 5 VP on faction B while another player puts 4 VP on faction A and 0 VP on faction B?

The game-specific forum for any game can be found by going to that game's main page, scrolling down to "Forums," then clicking the link below that says "See all topics."

Or given that you've only played 6 different games so far, it shouldn't be difficult to find it at the bottom of

There is also a full auction explanation, complete with a detailed example, in the How to Play section at the bottom of each Gaia Project game.
To answer your question, it will depend on the value of the other bids.
