Alternative modes?

In my opinion 1 point for 1 card no matter how hard it is to get is kind of punishing and makes game pretty straight forwad

most of games i played ended as draw, becouse of above logic and TIE was decisive, I belive it would be great to have alternative modes with different points, i have 2 suggestions, maybe they are not best but could be a helpfull in building something better

1. Dice as point

each dice used for card should give 1 point, so for example card with 3 dices as 4 (dwarf), should give 3 points
This change a direction of a game from buying easiest 1st to buy hardest 1st

2. Sum of dices

each value on dice should give a point, so for example 3 dices as 4 (dwarf) should give 12 points
This change a direction of a game from buying easiest 1st to buy hardest 1st with highest dice value

Are you aware of the tie-break rule? It looks like you haven't had a single draw in this game, at least recently. The tie-breaker was only added to BGA fairly recently (a few weeks ago? may a month or two?).

EDIT. I reread your post, and it seems like you are counting games broken by the tie-breaker as a draw. Fair enough, but in practice most games now have a winner and loser(s). Just think of the tie-breaker as part of the scoring system, which it is. (I also like games that have draws, but that's a separate conversation.)

Yea im aware of tie-breaker but i believe that overall if you play any games, draw is very rare when tie-breaker have to decide who wins, here draw is pretty common

which i believe counting points should be different to reduce draws and give some angle of planning and making strategy to win

as an addition reason is that 42 card is not well divided for 4/5/8 players, its not fair and starting player have big advantage and will win in most of a time becouse other players will have less chances to win, but different modes could reduce this difference

I don't see such a big distinction between a tie-breaker being needed or not. It's just the scoring system being implemented, and you play to win via whatever the scoring system is. You get all the Elo points and tournament progression and everything else winning on a tie-breaker.

I agree that a version with point-counting of some sort could be fun too. But it'd be a different game; you'd need to persuade the designers, not BGA. And I like the game we have without it too.

if im not wrong, BGA can implement alternative modes as option to choose without publisher, as they did in many games

But those modes have to come from somewhere.

Are there really examples like this already, with player-proposed complications? Genuine question---I thought not, but I haven't investigated. I thought there were occasionally minor variations allowed, with publisher permission, to make the online interface smoother, but that that was as far as it went. I'd be happy to be wrong and curious to see more.

(I guess I could argue that the current tie-breaker for Pentaquest was a fan proposal, because I suggested it here. But I don't know if that's where the idea came from and the implementer was in discussion with the designers about what to do. Given the solo game, it's a pretty obvious choice for a tie-breaker, so I'm not claiming massive amounts of original brilliance here!)

In case someone with the authority to implement modes reads this thread: a table at which I was playing posited that it might be interesting for cards to be assigned values based on their dice equivalent to Yacht or the like.
