Achievement: Addict

I would like to suggest an edit for the title of this achievement.

I am quickly approaching a personal milestone of five years continuous sobriety from mood- & mind-altering substances. In specific, I am referring to illegal drugs and alcohol. I believe the intent and context of this word in this particular use is purely innocent. However, I would like to suggest maybe finding another word to use for this achievement. Every time I gain this "trophy," I am left at odds with my feelings. I attribute much of my recovery to have been assisted by the introduction, and continued presence, of boardgames in my life. Boardgames were a heaven send with enabling me to occupy my mind with a much healthier coping mechanism.

I absolutely love and appreciate what BGA offers with this platform. Without a doubt, I am obsessed... infatuated... overfilled... smitten... etc. with what this service offers. Thank you for existing!

This is merely a suggestion for consideration. Thank you very much for your time. Be good and game ON!

Thank you very much for sharing some of your personal history!

As soon as I read the title of your post, I thought for some people it might not sound so playful as it was certainly intended by BGA. I therefore think it is important to support your request. However, in order to actually bring about a change, we need an official proposal here https://boardgamearena.com/bugs and as many votes as possible.

I understand the concern, and it is not the first time it is raised

But what troubles me is why words like "addict", "Indian" or "ghetto blaster" are more discussed and complained about than "war" (something no one should be proud of), "gladiator" (according to Wikipedia: most were despised as slaves, schooled under harsh conditions, socially marginalized, and segregated even in death), "assassin" (a criminal in most societies), or "banzai" (in the context, clearly intended as battle cry, not as a good wish), all of which appear in the achievements as well.

Healthy Addiction is just enthusiasm for some things that can be good and enjoyable in your little world.
Game collecting, coin collecting, video game playing, healthy sports, great food, can all be positives if they are done in moderation and do not affect other life commitments. My family reminds me that ALL of my hobbies are addictions, but I'm really just exposing them to my enjoyable pastimes.

I was hunting achievements on xbox before I found BGA. Now, I like to see my ELO going up ... and my SoS exploding.

I agree. I didn't know of those achievements and I don't know what they stand for.

So it's totally fine for you, and that's ok. But for some people it is very painful to be called an 'addict' and therefore we are discussing a change. There are a lot of synonyms, which could be used instead.

For the record:
War Hero: 1000 victories in BGA
Gladiator: First game in Arena mode
Master Assassin: Victory against a Master player
Banzaï: 20 consecutive victories
