Switching game from time to turn based in the middle?

I was playing in a game of Space Base (time based) just now. One player looked to be close to running out of time and suddenly the game switched over to turn based. Are players able to do that? Is it a bug or a hack? I've never seen it before.

Any player can request to change a real-time game into a turn-based game. My understanding is that all players with positive time left on their clock have to agree to this change (players with negative time automatically agree). If you are certain that you were not prompted about this (and you were not out of time), then that sounds like a bug.

If it seems like someone is taking a really long time, refresh your page. Sometimes it is your clock that is running.

If that happened in this case where you thought it was their turn but it was really yours, then what probably happened is when you ran out of time the other players converted the game to turn-based (all players not out of time must unanimously agree) instead of expelling you.

After the game is over we can look at the time log to see if this is what happened.
