What happens if you decline an invite to a game?

If a friend invites you to a turn based game and you decline do they get a message saying that? Or does the game just go away?
No, the game opens up to other people, depending on how it's configured. If your friend has restricted it to their friends, then it probably won't get filled (unless another of their friends comes looking for the same game), but if it's not restricted, then it will open up to anyone, and get joined that way. Your friend also doesn't get notified I don't think (there might be something in the game's chat, but I only see those messages if I'm online when it happens).
Personally, I think it's better to let your friend know you don't want to play so they can cancel the game before it starts (or let it go out to anyone if that's what they want). But I have difficulty getting my friends to do this.
