Tournament Play -- using TRADE to lose time on opponent

BGA Overlords -- please fix this game so that some unwelcome players cannot exploit the TRADE option to continuosly "time-out" the other players. The game, on whole, should limit the amount of time a "trade" counts against opponents. It would make a whole lot of sense if the "trade" action ended mere minutes after the offer.
In REAL TIME, the timer makes sense. In TURN TIME, it is appalling to have a player use it as a tactic... it isn't the game. it not only cost ELO, but also the time to register into a tourney, and also skewing the tourney results.

Trading is part of the game and the strategy...I have mixed feelings with the option...

Just to be clear, I wouldn't suggest checking "never alert me" (at least not until your time bank is nearly depleted). Rather, you can configure trade alerts for flexibility, setting conditions for which trades you want to be notified of, either until your next turn or until you gain resources. See also https://boardgamearena.com/bug?id=63323 summarizing different proposed improvements to the trading interface.

I don't understand. All you have to do to avoid your time being run out is hit one button. I believe it reads "Decline." What's the bid deal?
