Knarr Tournament (Round Robin)

Hello there,

We have just finished a local tournament with my friends. Looking at the results, I have a question.
This is the link to our tournament: https://boardgamearena.com/tournament?id=503434

It was a Round-robin tournament with 2-player games only.

At the end, the 3rd and 4th players have the same score, and they also have the same tiebreaker score. I assumed they were supposed to share the 3rd place. Does anyone know why one player is ranked above the other in this case? (Also, in their direct comparison, the 4th player beat the 3rd one, which means there should be no direct confrontation tiebreaker.)

And if I made a mistake preapring the torunament, I'd like to learn if I can change the tie-breakers berfore hand.

Thanks!

I don’t have an answer to your question, even though I have the same one. I’m linking here to a thread where I’ve seen this topic discussed.

That thread contains numerous additional links related to the subject. However, all of them are based on assumptions, and I don’t see any hypothesis that holds true in all cases except the random hypothesis.

For other tournaments I have seen the time spent be the tie breaker. Maybe this was also the case here. That means the player that spent less time during the game would win the tie break.
