Board Game Arena

I'm playing Solo and have the Boss Cell on my mutation board but it doesn't seem to do anything. Do I have to do something in order to make it active?

The boss cell is next to the mutation board adjust button. It’s a tiny card with a red dashed boarder. If you click on it, it becomes green dashed and is active. I just beat super concierge with it active.
