Scoring options?

Hi all,

So I am not premium, I can't host so I don't know how silly this question may be...

is 'end game scoring' the default? There's some games on BGA where the scoring can be provided real time or end game (for example terraforming mars). Is this similar on Concordia? Anyone interested in playing 2p Concordia where the scoring is real time?

I am aware IRL you can calculate scoring on the board; I am happy to have the computer / BGA do it for me. Thanks.

Yes, there's a toggle for live scoring though it's not the default.

I don't see any reason to not have live scoring in a game like this, where someone with a perfect memory could track card buys and get the same result.

That's exactly the reason why live scoring is against the rules in this game: you have to memorize the opponents' cards if you want to calculate them. The scoring is not "on the table" like beyond the sun or king domino. It's more like the shipping points in Puerto Rico, and this site keeps them hidden as in the real game. (of course you can always cheat and write them down at every captain phase)

In turn-based mode, you can write everything down. In real-time mode, you can write things down if you're fast enough, but it slows the game down. That's why I say it should just be tracked for you. Otherwise, you're giving an advantage to the people wasting time tracking.

For example, in Flip 7, you can get a tiny advantage by counting cards. Near the end of the deck, you can know what cards are coming if you're counting, which is a slight advantage. But, that means you're now spending 1:00 per move instead of 0:10, which is a bad experience for the other players. That's why I say it should just count for you in games like that. In Flip 7, all discards are public, so you know what cards are left in the deck if you're counting.

If I was playing serious for money, I would go to the effort of learning how to count. For a casual game, where I could track it myself if I cared, I prefer the site to track for me.

Live scoring is available on terraforming mars (amongst other) while it is more or less obscure as in Concordia. I think this should be an option.
For some reason I do not understand, it has disappeared on my ongoing tables. I hope this is just a bug and not a permanent modification.

Did they change the scoring display in Concordia? In T Mars it works fine.

It may be a small point/nitpick but the Live Scoring does not seem to include the Concordia card, whose destination would be known as soon as someone finishes the game (or at least inputs a move which would finish the game if not redone).

Consequently if you are using the Live scoring to calculate what is likely to be your best last move, it will be inaccurate.

I dont' know if this is quite deliberate. I imagine people are already jumping up and down with rage at the idea of doing this, since some felt that the Live scoring was too much help in the first place. But if you're going to make it available, you might as well get it completely right, no?

Anyway IMO people checking their best move right near the end of a longish game doesn't seem too much like time wasting, if they do it within their time limit of course. And so you might as well make it easier to do so.

That said, adding the missing 7 pts is a simple calculation for even the most arithmetically challenged.

It's listed as a bug, that the Concordia card isn't included in live scoring.

They claim it was fixed.
