Solo Scoring

I've played solo several times and no matter my score, it always says I had that in a NEGATIVE score and that I lost. I'm new to the game overall, so I could be missing a major understanding that I'm supposed to set goals or something? Thank you in advance.

Just to be sure - you're only fulfilling one A goal and one B goal, right? Those goals increase the negative number applied to your score.
Or, more fundamentally, are you claiming goals? You need to claim at least one goal in each tier in order to be able to win.
The game is more complex than it seems at first. Feel free to message me if you want to try play a tutorial 2-player game; I'm happy work on explaining it as we go.

If you over shoot the target score you are penalized. So if you are trying for a 88 and score 100, you are penalized for it. The solo mode has you zoning into a specific target. It is a lot more difficult then it appears. This game has so many unique and great design choices!

There's nothing in the game rules (at least in the physical game) about being penalized for overshooting the goal:
"To win the solo game you must complete at least one goal from each of the 5 rows and meet or exceed the combined target score shown on the A and
B goals you have completed."
